As you may or may not have noticed, I haven’t been updating this site much. It’s been so bad that Mrs. Phan told me to post something last night. The conversation went something like this…
Mrs. Phan: “What are you doing?”
Me (sitting on couch): “Nothing.”
Mrs. Phan: “Why don’t you write something for your website?”
Me: “I don’t have anything to write about.”
Mrs. Phan: “You should write about how you have nothing to write about.”
Mrs. Phan: “Or you could just invent a sport and write about that.”
Me: “I’m going to bed. Good night. I love you.”
After sleeping on it, she’s right. I shouldn’t let my lack of inspiration keep me from writing about what I love. So, here are the reasons why I don’t have any inspiration.
I have such a broken heart from this past season, that I couldn’t even write an “RIP 2012 Phillies” post. I tried at least 5 times and all I did was rewrite the first sentence 10 times and then sit and stare at a blank screen and sigh repeatedly. Once the World Series is over, I should be able to actually think about baseball without becoming instantly depressed.
Another depressing topic. There’s no end in sight to the lockout and thinking about hockey is just painful. I can’t even bring myself to read about all of the Flyers tearing up the European leagues or follow the Phantoms. It just makes me too damn sad.
The only posts that I have been putting up lately are about the lifelong disappointment known as the Philadelphia Eagles. I’ve been giving them a ton of crap lately. Namely because I think I’ve finally hit the Andy Reid wall that most of you hit back in 2005. I like the team and the vast majority of the players. However, a cast of incompetents are in charge of them and I have little faith in them to win ever win a game, let alone a championship, and it isn’t the players fault (except maybe Vick).
Now the Sixers have been playing preseason games and playing them well. However, meaningful games don’t start for another 6 days. Bynum still hasn’t practiced and there still isn’t a new mascot. I’ll be much more excited next week.
Hopefully, the Eagles will win this weekend and the Sixers will start out hot on Wednesday. That’ll cheer me up for sure. In the meantime, I’ll try to do a better job of regularly posting and not being such a bum. Or, I just invent a new sport called Phanball.
