My orange blood has been simmering all day since the end of yesterday’s Flyers/pingüinos game. As I get closer to middle-age (when does that start btw?), I’ve calmed down considerably when it comes to viewing sporting events. I had a relapse at the end of the game yesterday. Thankfully, my baby daughter was sound asleep in her room and didn’t have to hear her father rain a veritable alphabet of profanity upon the Slingbox feed. The good news is this…
I really thought Lavy was going to pulverize the entire pingüino coaching staff. The Flyers better not ever fire him.
Now the bad news is this…it’s just been reported (according to csnphilly.com) that Danny Briere is out indefinitely thanks to the clean-dirty-gooned-up hit he received from Joe Vitale yesterday. Look, I know it was a clean hit and Danny should’ve been looking, (and if a Flyer hit Crosby or Malkin like that I’d be re-watching it all day long while wiping a tear of joy from my eye) but they were clearly looking to take someone out and it worked. I just hope the Flyers get some payback this Saturday (Vitale also injured Grossman with a knee-to-knee hit and he is out for 7-10 days).
If you haven’t noticed, I can’t stand the penguins. I hate that the penguins are even named the penguins. It’s a slap in the face to those adorable antarctic flightless waterfowl. When I’m asked, “Do you like penguins?” I always have to respond with a clarifier, “Yes. I love all penguins, unless they’re from Pittsburgh.” It’s just annoying. Anyway, this was a poopy outcome to an otherwise wildly entertaining game yesterday. Saturday should be interesting.
