Welcome to Displaced Phan (plus a brief history)

This will be a website for all 4 major Philly sports. I’ve been a displaced phan for most of my life and am now more displaced than ever. I’m over 5,000 miles away from Broad Street and am obsessed with the Phillies, Eagles, Flyers, and Sixers.

I was born in Philadelphia and my entire family (aunts, uncles, 1st cousins, parents, grandparents) is/are/were from Philly.  I first became displaced the summer before 2nd grade.  My family moved to the suburbs of Washington, DC in Virginia.  Now, it was a tough move for me.  Everyone was a Redskins fan and they won the Super Bowl not too long after I moved there.  They had barely heard of hockey.  They rooted for the Baltimore Orioles (who had won the World Series the year before against a certain team).  Now, I could have easily jumped ship and went with the DC/Baltimore teams as my teams.  However, I continued to hold true to my God given teams throughout the years.

I am now more displaced than ever, living in Chile.  I actually watch more Philly sports now then when I was in VA thanks to my trusty Slingbox.  I started this site to connect with other Philly phans from all over the world.  It gets lonely sometimes in a soccer crazed country that couldn’t care less about American sports.  I hope you enjoy the site and I’ll continue to post and improve throughout.  How displaced are you?

Thanks for starting this. I am in Selkirk Manitoba Canada distance of 2036K or 1265 Miles. I have spread the love of Philly teams to my daughters and my grandkids. I share Winnipeg Jets season tickets with my son-in-law and his brothers on the condition that I have all the Flyers games. Went to the first game Flyers/Jets with Grandson Conner, an 8 year old defenceman whose nickname on the ice is Stonewall. It was his first NHL game. His favorite hockey player of all time is Bobby Clark,
